In a radio interview with Jo Parfitt on Writers Abroad, intercultural trainer and author Elizabeth Vennekens-Kelly tells us about her book Subtle Differences, Big Faux Pas (Summertime Publishing, 2012), which focuses on 33 different intercultural topics, from introductions to food to weddings, each followed with a quiz. Some examples include the colour of flowers given to a host or hostess, when to shake with a left or right hand, and whether to greet someone using their title or not.
Asked why she wrote it, Elizabeth says the book is largely about raising awareness and learning how to be culturally sensitive.
