Suzanne Radford of Dubai radio station 103.8 Dubai Eye recently held a discussion on how to find your way after moving to Dubai. After Suzanne asked where listeners go for their information, one person texted in to recommend Anne O’Connell’s @home in Dubai (Summertime Publishing, 2011). Co-host for the day, George Stothard of The Writing Shop described the book as “a very informal relaxed book and it will really guide you through every aspect of moving here and finding your feet here, from work permits to finding a wifi hotspot…”
For stories from first-time expats in the UAE, listen to the show here (see the second feed for the mention of Anne’s book).
From getting a work permit to finding a WiFi hotspot… or even connecting with a fun sport or social group, @home in Dubai… Getting Connected Online and on the Ground has some helpful, and sometimes comical, insights into how to get it done. Knowing the drill is half the battle and O’Connell, and other expats who have weighed in with their advice and experiences, are happy to share a few ‘how tos’ with any and all newcomers.
