The reason I wrote Career in Your Suitcase, Find Your Passion and Expat Entrepreneur was because I had battled to create the perfect, moveable, sustainable career despite accompanying my husband on a series of overseas postings.

So it always warms my heart to hear of other people who share my passion for this subject.

Evelyn Simpson (The Smart Expat) and Louise Wiles (SuccessAbroadCoaching) have just launched a new piece of research into the experience of accompanying partners in relation to career whilst abroad. Interestingly, Louise is one of the 25 entrepreneurs who feature in the bestselling book, Turning Points.

The survey explores the choices accompanying partners of expats make regarding whether or not they work, as well as delving deeper into the reasoning behind each individual’s choice. Finally it will consider whether or not there is a connection between career choice and overall satisfaction with life.

Evelyn and Louise believe that understanding more about those choices will help accompanying partners with their decision-making in relation to international assignments, and will also help organisations to more effectively direct the resources that they assign to supporting accompanying partners.

The more people who participate in the survey, the more their results can influence the dialogue on accompanying partner’ career choices so we re aiming for as wide participation as possible.
The link to the survey is http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/partnerscareerchoices.
It will take about 15 minutes to complete and is totally anonymous.
Evelyn and Louise hope to have the results and the full report written by the Spring of 2012.
