“Isolation is the companion of loneliness,” writes Laura J Stephens in her latest blog post. “It can be a reality if you live in the middle of nowhere or it can simply be a state of mind… For me, there was nothing in my experience quite so isolating as arriving in an unfamiliar country and trying to orientate myself, whilst experiencing the losses of ‘home’ and all the while thinking I should be grateful for my new existence.”
